A movie can make or break your cozy night in, especially with the frigid weather. A cozy movie should make you feel warm inside. That’s why we’ve compiled a ranking for our favorite movies that will keep your interest and help you unwind for the night.
Our ranking uses one of the most recognizable symbols of warmth: a blanket.
Here’s the key:
3 blankets: rewatch immediately
2 blankets: recall fondly, rewatch someday
1 blanket: nothing special, but still a cozy movie
“Knives Out”
Directed by Rian Johnson and starring Daniel Craig, Chris Evans and Ana De Armas, this movie centers on a rich family and their large, but somehow cozy mansion, it also touches on family drama and a murder. The warm and cozy fall vibes are there, but it doesn’t make the viewer feel especially happy or nostalgic.

“The Holiday”
While some may consider this Nancy Meyers directed comedy romance starring Kate Winslet, Cameron Diaz, Jude Law and Jack Black a Christmas movie, this is a cozy film that can be enjoyed year round. With a plot that involves a Christmastime house swap set in both Los Angeles and the British countryside, this movie is great for a night in with friends. You don’t need to pay much attention to understand the plot.

“The Princess Bride”
This 1987 classic starring Robin Wright and Cary Elwes has everything a good fantasy movie needs: a love story, sword fights, evil villains and a giant, the film truly has everything you would need for a cozy night in. There are so many iconic lines in this movie and it fosters a sense of nostalgia and warmth, as well as a happy ending.

“Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone”
The first installment of the eight-movie adaptation from the J.K. Rowling books evoke a warm feeling of cozy nostalgia. While it still has action and introduces the Wizarding World and Voldemort to the audience, the movie still takes on a less serious tone than the others.

“Little Women” (2019)
Directed by Greta Gerwig, this movie version of the 1886 novel is an impactful rendition of the original story. Gerwig and the cast of the movie, including Timothée Chalamet and Florence Pugh, bring the same comfort and warmth as the novel with a fresh take on the characters.
