How to Navigate the Twin Cities Concert Scene

Attending a concert in big cities like St. Paul and Minneapolis can be daunting. Unsure of how to get to a conert – and where to go before and after the show? Here are some tips:

Experience local music with our recommendations for concerts venues, transportation options, and late-night sports.

Dance, sing and enjoy at your favorite venues: 

First Avenue: is located on 701 N 1st Ave, in Minneapolis. This 1,550- person venue is small but mighty; it attracts both up-coming local acts as well as major touring bands.  U.S. Bank Stadium: is located on 401 Chicago Ave, in Minneapolis. This arena is home of the Minnesota Vikings and can host up to 73,000 seats for musical acts. Xcel Energy Center: is located downtown St. Paul on 199 W Kellogg Blvd. This arena has a capacity of 18,000 seats and features top hit performers. Target Center: is in the heart of downtown Minneapolis located on 600 N 1st Ave. This venue allows for over 20,000 fans to watch their favorite artist perform. The Armory: is located on 500 South 6th St, in Minneapolis and has a capacity of over 8,000 providing an excellent live music scene. 

Get to and from the show stress and traffic free. The cities offers stress- free travel to shows through public transits, rideshares and car services:

Metro Transit: is a bus system that offers a light rail station at US bank, Target Field, Armory, and First Avenue. This option is super affordable, quick, and a hassle-free ride. If you are looking for a more luxury experience the Twin Cities Car Service: offers a fun start to your night. But if you want to plan ahead, pre-order an Uber or Lyft for a service that is available 24/7.

Pre-game near the venues at great local spots and activities like: 

In need of a pick-me-up before continuing with your late night plans?Spyhouse Coffee: is located at 2404 Hennepin Ave, Minneapolis.  Spyhouse is open until 8pm and only 7 minutes away from First Avenue. If you are wanting to kill time and be active swing by Bad Axe City Center, Puttery or take a historical tour Historic Cave Tour.  These activities are near the venues and offer deeper experience into the fun of what the twin cities have. If you get hungry after, walk into Cossetta’s Alimentari and experience an Italian Market just 1 minute away from the Xcel Energy Center! 

Keep the fun going after the concert. Head to these late-night Twin Cities favorites:

Play darts, pool, pinball, video games, or buy some pull tabs at 19-Bar: Open until 2 a.m., and down the road from the U.S. Bank Stadium, First Avenue, Target Center and The Armory. The Basement Bar: is also open until 2 a.m. and serves food and drinks just minutes away from the U.S. Bank Stadium, First Avenue, Target Center and The Armory. However if you are in St. Paul,  Wild Bill’s Sports Saloon – DT St. Paul and the Pillbox Tavern is minutes away from the Xcel Energy Center and both are open until 1 a.m.
